WHY?
The main focus of our year old start up is a boutique NFT platform for artists. To celebrate our prototype launch, planned for March 2022, we decided to design a Genesis Collection of 4444 totem avatars and give them for free through our Twitter whitelist events. Our goal is to see if we can foster a ground-up community without extravagant promises, marketing or influencers; and start releasing our products with an OG collection that will benefit holders with our future products.
WHY FREE?
CrypTotems, contrary to many other collections, is not seeking to collect a few million dollars with a quick sell out. Many projects get rapidly crushed under the weight of over-promises, because utilities that have real life use cases are still premature within the blockchain ecosystem. It’s a work in progress and the hype of speculative utilities last no more than a few months in most collections.
CrypTotems does not promise anything, not even a Discord server at this stage. We plant a seed and watch it grow as people water it.
So are the reasons for the free pre-sale mint: Because we are in no rush to achieve the economical success we aspire. Because we are not trying to force-form a community within a week. And finally, when the consumer receives an asset free of charge and risk, the only way that asset’s price can go is up.
WHY TOTEMS?
It’s almost obvious: the concept of “avatar” wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for the artifacts like totems. Totems are also in line with the underlying lore of our products, which we plan to reveal in stages. We didn’t write down the lore, we just have a vision for it. Lore can be written only in time, with an organic community.
WHY MINT?
CrypTotems come with no promises, no Discord… So why even mint them, why spend the gas?
Because one can deliver without the promises.
CrypTotems does not have a roadmap, but it’s rather the first stage of a larger roadmap. We will always keep adding value and utility to this Genesis Collection. Promises exclusive to this collection would result only in speculation and high expectations for quick profit. These are not productive sentiments, especially during bear markets. We want to build a lasting community slowly and organically. If we ever have a Discord community, we shouldn’t need to cram 50K members into it or turn it into an attention black hole for the members. We would want it to be rather a getaway from all the rush. A place where NFT lovers can come and chill, not to gain anything necessarily other than the peace of mind.
